The major themes of the meeting will be the mechanisms of accurate reproduction of the hereditary information, the response of DNA replication machinery to environmental and physiological DNA damage, the sources of genetic variability, and the relationship between genetic alterations, evolution and human disease. In a broader perspective of heredity, we expect discussions of DNA polymerases, non B-DNA, ubiquitin signaling in DNA damage bypass, editing deaminases, non-DNA inheritance (prions), mitochondria and iron metabolism, molybdoenzymes, and mutation showers in evolution and cancer.
The goals of the meeting are to bring together enthusiastic scientists representing diverse disciplines and contemporary approaches in the field of genome instability, to stimulate presentation and discussion of new ideas and unpublished results, and to encourage younger generations of researchers.
The meeting will be held in the contemporary Sokos Hotel Palace Bridge in the historical center of Saint-Petersburg on Vasilievsky Island during the legendary season of “white nights.” The program will include plenary talks, short talks selected from submitted abstracts and poster sessions. Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows will be able to participate in a poster contest and a roundtable lunch to meet the invited speakers.
